Life is such a drama..

Just few weeks ago, I was so happy to meet such a good fella.. He was a nice person.. He believed in God.. He was supposed to be my make up artist.. But God Almighty had different plan for him.. He passed away today because of Hepatitis.. Before he went to ICU, he asked his assistant, Mbak Warti, to sub for him in my engagement day.. He reffered me as Mbak Ikha Djoko Sasongko's client in BSD.. At first Mbak Warti and Mbak Ikha was confused, but finally they got to reach me.. I was touched, he remembered me even during his last seconds in life.. May he rests in peace.. #Anto Hery

Meaning of Friendship

Yesterday was the last day that the all 47 IACS 2012 Awardees were put together before the Indonesian Channel in July 14th 2012 in Solo. As we all have known, airport moment never fail to shed some tears. Some people cry happily, some people cry sadly. In our case, it was a sad one. The awardees were flying to 5 different places Bandung, Solo, Surabaya, Denpasar, Makassar. They were sad, but ready to face the new challenging life at their next destination. Till we meet again in Indonesian Channel, Friends..

LOV35EKDILU CHOIR

Sorry for not posting in such a long period of time.. Had so much works to do.. So when I reach home, I was too sleepy to blog.. :p
I celebrated my birthday on February 22nd.. This year was such an awesome birthday ever.. I got really awesome birthday gifts, my batch's choir, LOV35EKDILU CHOIR, got to sing in front of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the 21st and also we got to sing in front of the President on the 23rd!!! Yaayyy!!! Am so proud of LOV35EKDILU CHOIR!!! *grouphugs*
By far, we got no complaint, smile from the Minister on the 21st, and another smile from the President on the 23rd.. Yaayyyy!!! Hopefully, more of events in the future.. *wink* *anothergrouphugs* Love U Dudes and Dudettes..

Our Future House (Apartment)

After a long and winding journey (which took weeks) of looking for the perfect one, today my partner texted me that he finally booked a unit at Taman Sari Apartment that I liked (If you followed my twitter, then you know I mentioned "Finding the perfect apartment with the perfectionist is so hard and tiring"). We went to the building site last Tuesday (CMIIW), met the Marketing, went up to the third floor to see how it looked (the view, the size comparion, and the layout), then decided which one we liked from the several rooms offered. Actually the two bed room unit was already in mind, but I told my partner that I liked the room that we later decided to buy. It was a 70.95 m2 two bed room unit, with a great view of Gatot Subroto. I am so much more than happy that we finally got what we had been looking for. Hope we could finish all the last touch up before our D-Day, so we could just jump in right after our honeymoon. XOXO..

Kopitiam: Peranakan Style Café

When Parisienes are so proud of their vintage looking cafés in Champs-Élysées, the Malaysians offer the café sort of place called Kopitiam.

So what is Kopitiam? Kopitiam is actually from the word "Coffee" and "Time" (then maybe miss-pronounced and along the way invent the word), because in the tea/coffee break time people usually snack and chat with friends. The concept Kopitiam offers is a place for chit chat and snacking, so that is why the food offered is rather light. Menu range from toast to laksa (prawn noodle in curry).

Today I hang out with friends, and had a dinner (nowadays people go to Kopitiam at any time, breakfast to supper!) in Oey Kopitiam in Sabang, just near our office. We ordered Fried Cassava and Roa Sambal for the appetizer, Crab Noodle (Mie Kepiting), Fried Rice and Anchovy (Nasi Goreng Teri Medan), and Chicken Briyani (pour moi!). We were pleased with the food (although I had tasted better Briyani before) and the price. What I really like the most is the quick service and the Teh Tarik (Tea with condensed milk made in special way to add the foam on top).

The Spanish Doughnut Called Churros

Homer from The Simpsons (the cartoon TV series) is such a big fan of doughnut. Doughnut is a sort of bread, ring shaped in most part of the world. When the Americans go to Krispy Kreme, I go to Churreria..

So what is Churreria? It is a spanish cafe where you can get churros, a spanish doughnut. Churros is very different from the common doughnut, as its shape is long and thick, and usually eaten dipped in melted chocolate.

In Churreria Grand Indonesia, Central Jakarta, they offered whole lot of churros menu. From the churros itself (2 options: sugarand/or cinnamon sprinkled) served with four kinds of dipping ( dark choc, milk choc, white choc, and/or caramel), to the one shown in the picture (I forgot the name). The churros is such delish although it is so mini in size. The dippings are so-so. The ice cream is nice (who could resist an ice cream???). But the big no-no is the golden coin chocolate, from giant (yes, the retail chain.. like, oh come on, you lazy overpriced cafe..).

Overall, love spending the night with friends.. I miss u guys.. Xoxo..

Yes Baby Bro, You're Half Way There..

I read an article in Y! about all the jobs with $100k with only 2-years degree. As I have guessed before, being a chef is one of it. So I am so very proud that my lil brother is half-way there. He is currently pursuing a culinary degree in Bali after previously studying psychology in my previous university (well, it is never too late to do what you love, and to love what you do). It is too early to say that he is going to be next in line and saying "hi" to $100k, but well my brother, hereby I, Orchida Danujaya, give you all my support. With lots of love.. XOXO..

The Books I Bought in 2011 That I Have Not Read

2011 is like a lazy year for me.. I bought several books, from texts, non-fictions, chicklits.. And I could only manage to read several chicklits.. Yaiks, I don't even have time to read those chicklits..

So, this year I wanted to read more.. Hopefully I could manage to write more reviews, and apply the ideas grasped.. Starting from Mr Jayakumar's Diplomacy: A Singapore Experience maybe? (Note: The book was recommended by my current boss few months ago, but I was unfortunate to experience the luxury of spare time) And yeah, I need to start it like NOW!
